Jeanne B’s Boutique was founded in January 2016 by local resident Jeanne Barta. A Colorado native, Jeanne was born and raised in metro Denver. After graduating from the University of Notre Dame in 1994, Jeanne married her husband Tom and quickly started a family. For the next several years, Jeanne lived her ultimate dream, staying home to raise their children, helping at their schools, and volunteering in the community. They moved to Colorado Springs in 2001, where they continued to expand their family. Their six children now range in age from 21 to 10.
Sadly, late in September 2011, Jeanne and her family experienced a devastating loss, when her youngest child, Christopher, was born severely premature, and died two weeks later from pneumonia. Having been a stay-at-home mom for nearly 20 years, this unexpected loss shattered Jeanne’s normal way of life, bringing loneliness and a loss of purpose to her once busy schedule.
Fighting to find joy and purpose again, she began to focus on another one of her longtime passions—the world of fashion. Becoming an independent jewelry consultant for Stella and Dot provided Jeanne with the flexibility of making her own schedule and allowed her to ease into the working world. The ever-changing trends, with each season’s new line, kept the work exciting and fresh, while the in-home shows kept her in constant connection with other women, giving her a new sense of direction and purpose. Shortly after this, Jeanne’s venture into the world of retail expanded greatly when she bought a women’s boutique franchise and opened the doors of her permanent store, Lillians, in October of 2013.
For the next two years, Jeanne ran her small women’s boutique with the help of her franchisors, but when they decided to retire in 2015, Jeanne wasn’t ready to call it quits. Having learned much about running a business during this time, she decided to open her own shop, in a brand-new location, in University Village Colorado. Revamping the entire business, from the name and logo, to the location and brand, Jeanne opened the doors of Jeanne B’s Boutique in September 2016.
While her love of fashion continues to thrive, it is her conviction that women can dream new dreams and pursue new opportunities that gives her work its true meaning. Jeanne is driven to help the women she serves in finding their own unique beauty, inside and out. In addition to her business, Jeanne continues to be very active and involved in the community with her volunteer and charitable work. She can often be found working on the floor or behind the scenes at Jeanne B’s amongst her close-knit team of employees, best friends and loyal customers.
